Route 111 accident is subject of suit

A motorist has filed suit against the driver whom she alleges struck her vehicle, causing her injuries.

Jennifer Thaxton alleges she was driving south on state Route 111 approaching its intersection with a private drive near Edwardsville Road in Wood River on Dec. 12, 2012, when defendant Albert Walton, who was driving east, struck her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Thaxton suffered serious and permanent injuries and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Nov. 6 in Madison County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, Walton negligently failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to see Thaxton's vehicle, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to stop his vehicle from entering Thaxton's lane.

Thaxton seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Attorney Justin B. Mattea of Collinsville will represent Thaxton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-1522.
