A man says he suffered neck and back injuries when a driver allegedly struck the front of his vehicle.
Altan Halici filed a lawsuit Nov. 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Breanna Jewett.
In his complaint, Halici alleges he was driving a 1998 Buick Centruy Limited north on state Route 161 in the 1600 block of Sherman Street, Belleville, on Nov. 17, 2012, when Jewett, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt south on the same road, attempted to make a left turn in front of Halici and hit Halici's vehicle.
In addition to his neck and back injuries, Halici incurred medical costs, experienced pain and suffering and lost wages, according to the complaint. He also experienced a diminished quality of life, the suit states.
Halici blames Jewett for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast and failed to yield the right-of-way.
In his complaint, Halici seeks actual damages of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Attorney LaToya Berry, of the Law Offices of LaToya M. Berry in Belleville, will represent Halici.
