Worker claims he was wrongfully terminated following work place injury

A man alleges his former employer terminated him after he sustained an injury while working.

Christopher Faarup filed a lawsuit Oct. 22 in Madison County Circuit Court against W.W. Transport.

In his complaint, Faarup alleges he sustained injuries when he fell on ice at W.W. Transport while cranking his trailer up on Feb. 2.

Due to his injuries, Faarup was unable to perform his job duties, according to the complaint. In turn, he filed for workers' compensation benefits, the suit states.

Faarup was cleared to return to work April 30 with the caveat that if he continued to have difficulties, his doctor would perform an MRI, the complaint says. Faarup returned to work May 9 but says he was immediately released from his job.

Because of his job loss, Faarup lost income and benefits, suffered mental and physical anguish and experienced pain, according to the complaint.

In his complaint, Faarup seeks a judgment of more than $200,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Attorney Jeffrey A. Kopis, of Kopis Law Office in Belleville, will represent Faarup.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-1435.
