Lawsuit filed after two children killed in crash

The guardian of two deceased minors alleges the girls died in a preventable collision.

Debra Dyer-Webster filed a lawsuit Oct. 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Access Courier, Contractor Solutions, Senad Hodzic and Alfredo McGee.

In her complaint, Dyer-Webster alleges Alicea McGee and Annastashia McGee were riding in a 2000 Chevrolet Impala that became disabled in the northbound lanes on Interstate Highway 55 in Macoupin County on Oct. 25, 2013. Suddenly Hodzic, who was working for Access and Contractor and driving a Ford Econoline E250, smashed into the back of the Impala, according to the complaint.

Because of the collision, Alicea and Annastashia McGee suffered severe and catastrophic injuries that led to their deaths, the suit states. Their relatives have been deprived of their love, companionship, society and support, the complaint says.

Dyer-Webster blames the defendants for causing the collision, saying they negligently failed to keep their vehicle under proper control, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to pull a vehicle off the traveled portion of the highway.

Dyer-Webster seeks a judgment of more than $1.5 million, plus costs.

She is represented by attorney Thomas Q. Keefe Jr. of Keefe and Keefe in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-701.
