Sauget medical facility accused of causing patient's death

A Sauget kidney treatment facility is accused of causing the death of one of its patients.

Vonda K. Jones, independent administrator of the estate of Allison Jones III, filed a lawsuit Oct. 9 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Renal Treatment Centers-Illinois Inc., doing business as Sauget Dialysis.

In October 2012 Allison Jones was receiving dialysis from Suaget Dialysis, according to the petition. The medical staff allegedly failed to notice and rectify the internal bleeding that occurred during Jones' treatment. She later died of a gastrointestinal hemorrhage, the lawsuit alleges.

Sauget Dialysis is accused of negligence. Vonda Jones asks for more than $50,000 in damages and court costs.

Attorney Michelle Akinsiku Hayde of O'Fallon represents her. They request a jury trial.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-683.
