Alton woman named in car crash claim

An Alton woman is being sued for allegedly turning in front of another car and causing a crash.

Raymond Elmendorf filed a lawsuit against Carole Manly Sept. 26 in Madison County Circuit Court.

According to the petition, Elmendorf was driving his Chevrolet Silverado south on Belle Street in Alton on Feb. 19. At the same time, Elmendorf says, Manly was driving north on State Street. As Manly approached the intersection where Belle Street merges into State Street she allegedly turned in front of Elmendorf's truck and caused the two vehicles to collide.

Elmendorf accuses Manly of negligence for failing to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. He asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses and costs of the lawsuit.

Elmendorf is represented by attorney Lanny Darr of Alton.
