Patient claims St. Clair County doctor caused nerve damage

A St. Clair County doctor is accused of injuring a patient during a cyst removal surgery.

David L. Womble filed a lawsuit Sept. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dr. Kosit Prieb and Vascular & Hand Surgery Ltd.

According to the complaint, in November 2012, Womble was a patient of Prieb. During a ganglion release surgery, Prieb allegedly caused damage to Womble's ulnar nerve.

Womble accuses the doctor and his employer, Vascular & Hand Surgery, of negligence. He is seeking more than $100,000 in damages for medical costs and court fees.

Attorney Joseph A. Bartholomew of Belleville represents Womble.
