Lowe's sued over 'improperly installed' shelving at Granite City store

A man is suing Lowe's after shelving allegedly fell on him while shopping in the Granite City home improvement store.

Rusty Davis filed a lawsuit against Lowe's Companies Inc. on Sept. 22 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Davis says he was a customer at the Lowe's store on Schaeffer Road in Granite City. According to the complaint, unstable shelving fell on Davis while shopping, causing him to be seriously hurt.

Davis accuses Lowe's of negligence for allegedly allowing "shelving to be improperly installed, causing a dangerous condition and causing the shelving to fall upon" him.

He is seeking between $50,000 and $60,000 in damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering.

Attorney John H. Hustava, of Collinsville, represents Davis.
