Landlord accuses St. Clair County doctor of owing nearly $58K in rent

A St. Clair County property management company is suing a tenant for allegedly failing to pay nearly $58,000 in rental payments.

P.M.C.A., doing business as Phoenix Management, filed a lawsuit Sept. 9 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dr. Shabbir H. Safdar and Raza Syed.

According to the complaint, Safdar and Syed signed a lease contract with C&S Wolf Creek in October 2007. In September 2009, Phoenix Management took over as landlord with the lease agreement and guaranty still in effect. It was set to expire in December 2014.

Phoenix Management alleges the defendants have failed to pay the rent and associated late fees dating back to 2011 and owe nearly $58,000. The company asks to be awarded the full balance plus court costs.

Phoenix Management is represented by attorney Mark C. Goldenberg of Edwardsville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-268.
