Alton woman accuses driver of running over her foot

An Alton woman is suing a Wood River driver she says ran over her foot while she stood in a parking lot.

Dana L. Holland filed a lawsuit against Kevin M. Slaten on Aug. 29 in Madison County Circuit Court.

The alleged incident happened Sept. 7, 2012, in a parking lot at the west corner of East Broadway and Sering Avenue in Alton. Holland say she had parked and exited her vehicle when Slaten pulled his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado into the lot. Slaten allegedly drove over Holland's food with his tire and hit her right elbow with the passenger side mirror.

Holland says she received temporary and permanent injuries, requiring her to pay doctor and hospital bills and preventing her from normal functions. She accuses Slaten of negligence for allegedly failing to keep a proper lookout for pedestrians and failing to keep proper control of his vehicle.

Holland seeks more than $50,000 in damages. Attorney Lanny Darr, of Alton, represents her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-1200.
