Senior partner Marc Bern of the Napoli, Bern, Ripka & Shkolnik asbestos law firm announced at a meeting on Friday that Paul Napoli has been fighting leukemia.
Bern stepped in as head of asbestos litigation for the firm after Napoli, also a senior partner, became ill.
Last Friday’s meeting with local asbestos attorneys was organized to discuss the changes the firm plans to make in its asbestos litigation practices, particularly with lung cancer cases.
Bern praised Napoli’s strength, saying he is not letting his diagnosis get in the way of his work as he continues to be involved in the firm’s asbestos department as much as possible.
“If you’ve ever met Paul Napoli and you know him,” he said, “nothing holds that man down.”
Bern added that Napoli is expected to make a full recovery but is undergoing treatment right now.
