A man has filed suit against the driver he claims rear-ended a bus, which in turn struck the back of his vehicle.
William M. Wreath filed suit Aug. 7 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Richard A. Greer and St. Louis Trucking Inc.
According to the complaint, Wreath was driving a 2000 GMC truck north on Illinois Route 3 near its intersection with West Chain of Rocks road in Granite City on Aug. 7, 2012. Defendant Greer was also driving north on the same road when he struck the back of a bus, which then rear-ended Wreath's vehicle, according to the complaint.
Because of the collision, Wreath became sick, sore, lame and disordered; suffered neck and back injuries and incurred medical costs, the suit states. He also suffered disability and disfigurement, lost his earning capacity and lost wages, the complaint says.
Wreath blames Greer for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to reduce his speed, drove too fast, failed to brake or swerve to avoid the collision, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to obey a traffic signal.
In addition to Greer, Wreath names St. Louis Trucking as a defendant, saying it employed Greer and is liable for his actions.
Wreath is seeking a judgment of more than $200,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just. He is being represented by attorney Rodney D. Caffey of The Caffey Law Firm in Godfrey.
