Rear-end accident in Swansea leads to suit

A Randolph County man is suing over claims he was injured when his car was rear-ended on Lebanon Avenue in Swansea.

Patrick B. Zweigart filed a lawsuit Aug. 6 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Bradley J. Smith, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Zweigart was driving south on Lebanon Avenue near its intersection with North Gilbert Street in the village of Swansea on Sept. 26, 2012, when his vehicle was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Smith. Zweigart says he sustained injuries, and Smith is accused of negligence such as failing to leave sufficient distance between cars.

Zweigart is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. He is being represented in the case by attorney Robert C. Nelson of Nelson and Nelson in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court Case No. 14L582.
