Jun Construction sued over defamation claims

A Madison County company is suing over claims a competitor has defamed its reputation to clients.

Gateway Public Adjusters P.C., Daniel Long and Kirk Freels filed a lawsuit Aug. 1 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jason Brunaugh and P.J. Jun, doing business as Jun Construction, citing defamation.

According to the complaint, the defendants held themselves out as competitors of the plaintiffs in insurance claim adjusting, but allegedly without a license. The suit also states that Brunaugh, as an employee of Jun, made multiple false statements defaming the plaintiffs to their clients. The defendants are accused of defamation and tortious interference with business expectancy.

The plaintiffs are seeking more than $15,000 in damages. They are being represented in the case by attorney William S. Daniel of Daniel Law Offices in Glen Carbon.

Madison County Circuit Court Case No. 14-L-1055.
