An in-home care provider for the elderly is being sued over claims that an employee stole thousands of dollars from a client.
John and Laura Brunkhorst filed a lawsuit July 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Help at Home Inc. and U.S. Bank.
According to the complaint, Help at Home's employee Tanna K. Patton allegedly stole $9,000 from the plaintiffs' U.S. Bank account. Help at Home is accused of failing to provide adequate prevention of theft and violating the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.
The Burnkhorsts are seeking the money stolen plus court costs and attorney's fees.
They are being represented in the case by attorney John J. Hopkins in Alton.
