Passenger sues over Monroe County accident

A driver is being sued after his passenger allegedly was injured in a vehicle accident.

Cameron Rubemeyer and Dawn Rubemeyer filed suit July 24 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Samuel Fannon.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 6, 2012, Cameron Rubemeyer was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Fannon northbound on Gall Road in Monroe County. On that date Fannon drove his vehicle off the right side of the road, striking an embankment and overturning the vehicle, the suit states. Rubemeyer suffered serious injuries and disability as a result of the accident, according to the filing.

The defendant is accused of failing to reduce the speed of the vehicle to avoid an accident, failing to keep his vehicle under control and failing to stop or swerve his vehicle to avoid a collision.

The Rubemeyers are seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs. They are represented by Belleville attorney David C. Nelson of Nelson & Nelson Attorneys at Law PC.

St. Clair County Circuit Court Case No. 14-L-564.
