A woman claims she suffered bodily injuries when a driver rear-ended her as she was attempting to turn.
Lacheryl Lewis filed a lawsuit July 14 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Courtney A. Heuerman.
In her complaint, Lewis alleges she was driving north on North University Road near its intersection with P2 Road in Edwardsville when she stopped and waited to make a left-hand turn on Sept. 12, 2012. Suddenly Heuerman, who was driving behind Lewis, struck her vehicle, according to the complaint.
In addition to her injuries, Lewis experienced pain and suffering, was prevented from attending to her occupation, lost income and incurred medical costs, the suit states.
Lewis blames Heuerman for causing the collision, saying she negligently drove too fast, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to have her brakes in proper working order, failed to keep a careful lookout and followed Lewis’s vehicle too closely.
Lewis is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just. She is being represented by Steven M. Dioneda of Kullman, Klein and Dioneda in St. Louis.
