Sexual harassment suit filed against ESL nursing home

A St. Clair County woman is suing over claims she was sexually harassed at work.

Sheila Hill filed a lawsuit July 17 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Nathan Health Care Center LLC and Lawrence Washington, citing sexual harassment.

According to the complaint, Hill was employed by Nathan Health Care in East St. Louis directly under the supervision of Washington, who's supervisor was his wife while the human resource manager was another relative, from March 13, 2012, until June 7, 2013. Hill says she was subjected to sexual harassment involving Washington allegedly soliciting sex from her, making inappropriate comments about her body and even touching her inappropriately.

Nathan is accused of violations of the Illinois Human Rights Act and Title VII 42 U.S.C., negligent supervision, negligent hiring and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Washington is accused of intentional infliction of emotional distress and battery.

Hill is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented in the case by attorney Matthew P. Young of The Kuehn Law Firm in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court Case No. 14-L-554.
