Failure to reduce speed cited in Edwardsville rear-end accident suit

A woman has filed suit against the driver she claims rear-ended her vehicle.

Daryan E. Wood filed suit July 8 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Bilal T. Aziz.

According to the complaint, Wood was driving west on Center Grove in Edwardsville on Sept. 21, when defendant Aziz, who was driving west on the same road, struck the back of her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Wood suffered disability and disfigurement, endured great pain and mental anguish and lost earnings, according to the complaint. He also incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Aziz negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a manner as to strike Wood’s vehicle, failed to properly apply his brakes, failed to reduce his speed and drove while distracted, the complaint says.

Wood is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

She is being represented by Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-962.
