A woman has filed suit against the driver she claims failed to yield the right-of-way and struck her vehicle.
Christine Dopp filed suit July 2 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Robert Yates.
According to the complaint, Dopp was driving her 2010 Nissan Rogue east on Lebanon Avenue near its intersection with East F Street and North Jackson Street in Belleville on July 5, 2012, when the defendant, who was driving a 2008 Honda Civic on East F Street, attempted to make a left turn onto Lebanon Avenue. During the turn, he collided with the driver’s side of Dopp’s car, according to the complaint.
Because of the collision, Dopp fractured the rib on her left side, endured neck pain with pain radiating into her back and suffered headaches and numbness on her left side, the suit states.
Dopp blames Yates for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to yield the right-of-way.
Dopp is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. She is being represented by attorney Jim Ellis of Ellis Law Firm in Belleville.
