Woman accuses driver of failing to keep proper lookout

A woman has filed suit against the driver she claims failed to keep a proper lookout and struck her vehicle.

Beverly S. Meyer filed suit June 23 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Abigail Sue McVickar.

According to the complaint, Meyer was driving east on St. Louis Road approaching its intersection with Maple Street in Collinsville on July 28, 2012, when the defendant, who was driving south on Maple Street, attempted to make a left-hand turn and struck Meyer’s vehicle.

Because of the collision, Meyer sustained serious and permanent personal injuries, incurred medical costs and suffered great pain and anguish, according to the complaint. She also lost wages, the suit states.

McVickar negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, drove too fast, failed to sound her horn, failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision and failed to keep a proper distance between her vehicle and Meyer’s vehicle, the complaint says.

Meyer is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. She is being represented by Randall P. Steele of Steele Law Offices in Glen Carbon.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-900.
