A Hartford woman is suing, alleging she was fired for filing a workers' compensation claim.
Rhonda Bowman filed suit June 13 in Madison County Circuit Court against Gateway Regional Medical Center.
According to the complaint, Bowman was an employee of the defendant from October 2005 until Oct. 19, 2013. During that time, on May, 19, 2012, Bowman was injured on the job and filed a workers' compensation claim, the suit says. The defendant terminated Bowman's employment Oct. 19, stating she had missed excessive amounts of work, but Bowman claims her termination was a retaliatory discharge due to her filing the claim.
Bowman is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
She is represented by Fairview Heights attorneys Thomas C. Rich, Kristina D. Cooksey and Michelle M. Rich.
