Suit filed over Pontoon Beach accident

A man is suing over claims he sustained disabling injuries from a car accident.

Timothy Connolly Jr. filed a lawsuit June 12 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Milford D. Yates, citing negligence.

Connolly claims he suffered injuries when his vehicle was hit by the defendant's vehicle while traveling on Highway 162 in Pontoon Beach on Sept. 5, 2012, causing him injuries. According to the complaint, Yates failed to decrease the speed of his vehicle, failed to keep a proper lookout for traffic, drove his vehicle too fast and failed to slow down, stop or swerve to prevent the accident. The suit alleges that as a result of the accident Connolly suffered disabling injuries to his nose, neck and back, including the nerves, tissues and tendons.

Connolly is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, but no more than $75,000 and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Granite City attorney Matthew R. Chapman of Becker, Schroader and Chapman P.C.

Madison County Circuit Court Case No. 14-L-848.
