Driver accused of pinning man with vehicle, breaking legs

A man has filed suit against a driver he claims broke both of his legs when she pinned him between her vehicle and a concrete wall.

John A. Harris filed suit June 3 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Trinecia A. Jones.

According to the complaint, Harris was standing near 3305 Converse Ave. in East St. Louis on Jan. 19 when the defendant pinned him between a raised concrete median and the car she was driving.

Because of the incident, Harris sustained severe and permanent injuries, including multiple fractures to both of his legs, and became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled, according to the complaint. He also incurred medical costs, experienced pain and suffering, lost his ability to lead a normal life and lost wages, the suit states.

Jones negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to properly apply her brakes, drove too fast and failed to decrease her speed, the complaint says.

Harris is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000. He will be represented by Brian D. Kurth of Meyerkord and Meyerkord in St. Louis.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 14-L-470.
