Walgreen Co. employee blamed for bumping into customer, causing fall

A woman has filed suit against the pharmacy where she claims an employee bumped into her, causing her to fall.

Mary Felts filed suit June 4 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Walgreen Co.

According to the complaint, Felts was shopping at the Walgreens at 5890 N. Belt West in Belleville on March 20 when an employee made sudden and unexpected contact with Felts, causing her to fall and hit her left elbow.

Because of her fall, Felts sustained serious injuries to her left elbow, sustained pain and suffering and was prevented from attending to her usual affairs and duties, according to the complaint. She also incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Walgreen negligently failed to warn its customer before making physical contact and made physical contact without warning when it knew it would create a hazardous situation, the complaint says.

Felts is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. She is being represented by Mary Mansfield Brauer of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 14-L-476.
