A man has filed suit against the driver he claims rear-ended his vehicle.
Robert Bielefeld filed suit June 9 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Belleville personal injury attorney Samantha Sue Unsell.
According to the complaint, Bielefeld was driving south on Illinois 159 in front of the defendant's vehicle Oct. 6, 2012, when he stopped for traffic. Suddenly, Unsell struck the back of his vehicle, according to the complaint.
Because of the collision, Bielefeld sustained neck, back and spine injuries, underwent extensive medical treatment and incurred medical costs, the suit states. He also lost his mobility, suffered disability, endured significant pain and lost his normal life, the complaint says.
Bielefeld blames Unsell for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to warn of her impending approach, failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast and failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision.
Bielefeld is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just. He is being represented by Shaun Falvey of Brown and Crouppen in St. Louis.
