Parking lot accident causes knee injuries, suit says

A woman has filed suit against the driver she claims backed his vehicle into her.

Joan Harris claims she was walking south toward the entrance of 20 Marian Heights Drive on Feb. 26, 2013, when defendant Fred Booker backed his vehicle out of a parking space and struck her.

Because of the collision, Harris suffered right knee injuries, incurred medical costs, was prevented from attending to her usual affairs and lost wages, according to the complaint filed May 30 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Harris blames Booker for causing the incident, saying he negligently failed to maintain control of his vehicle, failed to keep a proper lookout to avoid running into her and failed to alert her of his intent to back up.

Harris seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus other relief the court deems just. Charles W. Armbruster and Michael T. Blotevogel of Armbruster, Dripps, Winterscheidt and Blotevogel in Alton will represent Her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-788.
