Godfrey accident is subject of suit

A woman says she sustained serious and permanent injuries after a driver failed to keep proper control and struck her vehicle.

Betty A. Witcher filed a lawsuit May 23 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Ashlyn E. Grover.

In her complaint, Betty Witcher alleges she was riding in a vehicle her husband, Richard Witcher, was driving in Godfrey on Jan. 9, 2013, when Grover, who was driving south on Little Creek Lane, struck the Witchers’ automobile.

Because of the collision, Betty Witcher experienced pain and suffering, endured disability and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint. She also lost earnings, the suit states.

Betty Witcher blames Grover for causing the collision, saying she drove in an improper manner, drove too fast, failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to brake and failed to yield at an intersection.

Betty Witcher is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. She is being represented by attorney John W. Hoefert Jr. of Godfrey.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-759.
