Highland accident is subject of suit

A woman has filed suit against the driver she claims swerved to the left in the middle of an intersection and struck her vehicle.

Ellen C. Carron filed suit May 1 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Lindsey N. Morton.

Accoding to the complaint, Carron was driving north on Hemlock Street near the Hemlock Street railroad crossing, which is south of Highway 40 in Highland, on May 7, 2012. At the same time, the defendant, who was driving south on the same street, swerved to the left and struck the left, front side of Carron’s vehicle, according to the complaint.

Because of the collision, Carron suffered serious injuries to her neck, back, spine, right shoulder and sternum and experienced pain and bruising, the suit states. She also incurred medical costs, suffered an impaired life style and lost wages and her earning capacity, the complaint says.

Carron blames Morton for causing the collision, saying she negligently drove in the left side of the road, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to maintain control of her vehicle.

Carron is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. She will be represented by Michael P. Steeno of Miller and Steeno in St. Louis.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-654.
