Motorcyclist claims injuries in Route 162 rear-end accident

A man claims he suffered severe neck and back injuries when a driver rear-ended his motorcycle.

William D. Hays filed a lawsuit April 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Allison S. Saccketti.

In his complaint, Hays alleges he drove a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which he stopped in an attempt to turn into his driveway at 6124 State Route 162 in Maryville on Oct. 1, 2012. At the same time, Saccketti who was driving west behind Hays, rear-ended Hays’s motorcycle, according to the complaint.

In addition to his injuries, Hays suffered extreme pain, lost wages, became disabled and lost his enjoyment of life, the suit states.

Hays blames Saccketti for causing the collision, saying she failed to keep her vehicle under control, failed to keep a proper lookout for Hays, failed to reduce her speed and failed to keep a safe distance between her vehicle and Hays.

Hays is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. He is being represented by Larry A. Calvo of Callis, Papa, Hale and Szewczyk in Granite City.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-629.
