Belleville accident causes serious injuries, suit claims

A woman claims she suffered head, back, neck and inner ear injuries after a driver struck her vehicle.

Samantha Kerth filed a lawsuit April 29 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Catherine M. Lukie.

In her complaint, Kerth alleges she drove her Volvo east on West Washington Street and entered the intersection at South Sixth Street in Belleville on May 2, 2012, when Lukie, who was driving a Buick north, collided with Kerth’s vehicle.

In addition to her injuries, Kerth incurred medical costs, experienced pain and suffering and endured disability, according to the complaint. She also lost her enjoyment of life, lost wages, experienced an impaired earning capacity and incurred property damages of more than $10,000, the suit states.

She blames Lukie for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to yield the right-of-way and failed to keep a proper lookout.

Kerth is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. She is being represented by Michael L. McGlynn of McGlynn and McGlynn in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 14-L-309.
