Man thrown overboard and run over by pontoon sues

An Illinois man is suing over claims that he was thrown overboard and ran over by a negligent boat operator.

Curtis Froncheck filed a lawsuit April 14 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Paul Rydgig and Amy Ligibel, citing negligence and negligent entrustment.

According to the complaint, Froncheck was a passenger on Ligibel's 2012 Bennington 17 SL pontoon boat on Vandalia Lake in Vandalia on May 15. Froncheck says Rydgig was operating the boat when he braked suddenly, which threw Froncheck overboard, and then ran over him with the boat's propellers. Rydgig is accused of negligence and Ligibel is accused of negligently entrusting her boat to a reckless operator.

Froncheck is seeking more than $75,000 in damages. He is being represented in the case by attorney Samantha S. Unsell of Keefe & Keefe P.C.

Madison County Circuit Court Case No. 14L562.
