A St. Clair County family is suing the driver of the car that crashed into their vehicle, injuring their mom.
Tina Altenbaumer, Michael Altenbaumer, Lucas Altenbaumer and Kathryn Altenbaumer filed a lawsuit March 28 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Eric L. Eiskant, citing negligence and loss of companionship.
The plaintiffs claim they were traveling east on West Main Street near the intersection with North Belt West in Belleville when Eiskant collided with the rear end of their vehicle on June 30, 2012. The suit alleges Eiskant failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to drive safely, causing the accident that injured Tina Altenbaumer. According to the complaint, Tina had to seek medical treatment and sustained the loss of a normal life and income as a result of the accident.
The plaintiffs are seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. They are being represented by attorney D. Keith Kessler Jr. of Foreman and Kessler Ltd.
