Driver accused of drinking, driving and crashing into parked car

A Granite City man is suing after his neck and back were injured in a car accident.

Robert Howard filed a lawsuit April 3 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Tammy Smith, citing negligence.

Howard claims he was injured in a car accident after Smith crashed into a parked vehicle in the 2100 block of Missouri Avenue in Granite City on March 13, 2013. The suit alleges Smith was drinking alcohol while driving a vehicle, when she drove into a parked car on Missouri Avenue, injuring Howard who was a passenger in her car. According to the complaint, Howard began having low back and neck pain as a result of the accident which required him to seek medical care.

Howard is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. He is being represented by attorney George H. Albers of Roth Law Offices LLC.
