Cahokia residents have filed suit against a driver who allegedly caused a rear-end accident.
Reginald L. McNeil and Zula R. McNeil filed suit March 31 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Demetrius A. Burns, citing negligence.
According to the complaint, Reginald McNeil was driving northeast on Calvin Boulevard with Zula McNeil as a passenger when Burns rear-ended the plaintiffs' vehicle on April 9, 2012. The plaintiffs allege Burns negligently failed to reduce his speed, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to avoid a collision and drove at an unreasonable speed, which resulted in the plaintiffs sustaining injuries.
The plaintiffs are seeking more than $50,000 in damages, plus costs. They are being represented by David C. Nelson of Nelson & Nelson.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 14-L-248.
