A Mt. Vernon woman is suing Monkey Joe's in Fairview Heights after her daughter broke a leg playing in a bouncy house.
April Payne, as parent and guardian of young child Breahna Payne, filed a lawsuit April 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against MJ Fairview Heights LLC, doing business as Monkey Joe's Fairview Heights, citing negligence.
Payne claims her young daughter was playing at the defendant's facility at 10855 Lincoln Trail in Fairview Heights on July 22, 2013, when she was injured. The suit alleges Breahna was playing inside a bounce house when she fell into a portion that wasn't properly inflated and struck a hard surface, breaking the bones in her leg.
Payne is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, attorney's fees and court costs.
She is being represented by attorneys Michael P. Murphy and Matthew D. Bigham.
