Couple sues over Greenmount Road accident

A couple claims they suffered various injuries after a driver rear-ended their vehicle.

Mary Moody and Robert Moody filed a lawsuit April 4 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Paris Rachele Robert.

In their complaint, the Moodys allege Mary Moody was driving a 2009 Chevy Impala north on Greenmount Road on April 10, 2012, when she stopped for traffic. Suddenly, Robert, who was driving a 2010 Chevy Silverado north on the same road, struck the back of Moodys’ vehicle, according to the complaint.

Because of the collision, Mary Moody suffered left shoulder and chest injuries, incurred medical costs and lost money, the suit states. Robert Moody, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the collision, claims he suffered pain, incurred medical bills and lost money, the complaint says.

The Moodys blame Robert for causing the collision, saying she negligently drove too fast, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to reduce her speed as she approached a vehicle stopped in traffic ahead of her and followed another vehicle too closely.

The Moodys are seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs. They are being represented by Samuel A. Mormino Jr. of Mormino, Velloff and Snider in Alton.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 14-L-259.
