Passenger claims injuries in multi-car collision

The passenger of a vehicle suffered head, clavicle, neck, arm, leg, knee and ankle injuries in a multi-car collision, according to recently filed court documents.

Rhonda Danheiser filed a lawsuit March 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Frank Leffert.

In her complaint, Danheiser claims she was riding in a 2005 Dodge Neon Kathryn Sipes was driving north on North Center near its intersection with Vadalabrene Drive in Maryville on March 28, 2012. Suddenly, Leffert, who was driving a 2004 Ford station wagon in the same direction, rear-ended Sipes’s vehicle, pushing her into the back of the vehicle in front of her, according to the complaint.

In addition to her injuries, Danheiser suffered great pain and mental anguish, endured disability and lost her normal life, the suit states. She also incurred medical costs, the complaint says.

Danheiser blames Leffert for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to reduce his speed to avoid an accident, drove without safe brakes, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to stop in time to avoid a collision, failed to sound his horn in time to warn of the collision and failed to reduce his speed.

Danheiser is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. She is being represented by Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Falb and Glisson in Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-455.
