Allegedly intoxicated driver blamed for accident

A woman has filed suit against an allegedly intoxicated driver she claims swerved into her lane and struck her vehicle.

Alexandria Wonders filed suit March 13 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Robin Manning.

According to the complaint, Wonders was riding in a vehicle traveling east on Route 50 on March 14, 2012, when the defendant, who was driving west on the same road, swerved into her lane. Manning struck the vehicle in which Wonders was riding, causing her to suffer severe physical pain, according to the complaint.

In addition to her pain, Wonders’s earning capacity and her ability to work have been permanently affected and weakened and she has incurred medical costs of more than $45,000, the suit states. She also incurred medical costs, lost wages and sustained damages to her vehicle of more than $2,000, the complaint says.

Wonders blames Manning for causing the collision, saying she negligently changed lanes when it was not safe to do so, failed to yield the right-of-way and drove while intoxicated.

Wonders is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus punitive damages and costs. She is being represented by Darin W. Sorrell of Sorrell and Traube in St. Louis.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 14-L-214.
