A man claims he suffered leg, thigh and groin injuries after a tank exploded near him.
George E. Marron IV and Natalie Marron filed a lawsuit March 13 in the Madison County Circuit Court against M&M Service Company.
In his complaint, George Marron claims he was standing near a dual capacity NH3 tank system that M&M had manufactured. Suddenly, on March 14, 2012, the tank expelled liquefied NH3 at high velocity, engulfing Marron in its chemicals, according to the complaint.
Because of the incident, Marron became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled, experienced pain and suffering and incurred medical costs, the suit states. He also incurred disability, sustained permanent disfigurement, lost earnings, lost his enjoyment of life and endured an increased risk of future injuries, the complaint says.
Natalie Marron claims she lost her husband’s society, companionship, love, affection, support and services because of the incident.
George Marron blames M&M for causing his injuries, saying it negligently failed to provide adequate warnings, defectively manufactured the coupling system so that it would allow the release of pressurized NH3, improperly designed the dual tank system, failed to properly maintain the dual tank system, failed to obtain proper certifications and allowed a dual tank system to operate in such a way to cause an accident, among other negligent acts.
The Marrons are seeking a judgment of more than $300,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just. They are being represented by D. Jeffrey Ezra of Ezra and Associates in Collinsville.
