The child of a recently deceased woman claims her mother died after doctors at Touchette Regional Hospital failed to timely diagnose her mother with appendicitis.

Rachel M. Childers filed a lawsuit March 5 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Touchette Regional Hospital, Dr. Chennaiah Nadindla, Dr. Charles Dumontier and Radiology Consultants of Mid-America.

In her complaint, Childers alleges her mother, Cindy Baker, died on March 16, 2012, after doctors at Touchette failed to diagnose and treat her for appendicitis.

Because of her mother’s death, Childers suffered grief and sorrow and has been deprived of her mother’s services, companionship, comfort, instruction, guidance, counsel, training, love and support, according to the complaint.

Childers is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. She is being represented by Joseph A. Bartholomew of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 14-L-195.
