Allegedly intoxicated driver blamed for causing woman's injuries

A woman has filed suit against an allegedly intoxicated driver who crossed the center line and collided with the driver’s side rear of her vehicle.

Lorie L. Moore filed a lawsuit March 3 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Travis A. Marks.

According to the complaint, Moore was driving north on State Route 157 near its intersection with Harmony Drive on Jan. 9, 2013, while the defendant was driving south on State Route 157 near the same intersection. Suddenly, Marks crossed the center line and struck the back driver’s side of Moore’s vehicle, according to the complaint.

Because of the incident, Moore sustained head, neck and back injuries and suffered great physical pain, the suit states.

She blames Marks for causing the collision, saying he negligently drove while under the influence of alcohol, drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to warn of his impending approach and failed to use the proper lane.

Moore is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus other relief the court deems just. She is being represented by Andrea D. McNairy of Brown and Crouppen in St. Louis.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-340.
