A construction company has filed suit against another company it claims caused it to unknowingly forfeit its ability to collect money for unpaid wages.
Hunter Construction Services filed the lawsuit Feb. 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dancor Construction Inc.
According to the complaint, the defendant promised Hunter $19,429.60 if it would execute lien waivers on work Hunter performed for Dancor at Premier Outlet Mall in Chesterfield. However, after Dancor received the money from the waivers, it refused to give Hunter its promised share, according to the complaint.
In addition to the money it claims it is owed, Hunter is seeking punitive damages of no less than $58,000, plus other relief the court deems just.
They are being represented by Craig A. Smith of Polsinelli in St. Louis.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 14-L-174.
