A man has filed suit against the security company guarding an East St. Louis grocery store, claiming its employees slammed him to the ground and handcuffed him after he was finished shopping.
Anthony Nicholson filed a lawsuit Feb. 14 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Phillip P. Bischoff, Jeffrey W. Clark and Securitas Security Company.
According to the complaint, Nicholson was shopping at Schnuck Markets on Aug. 8, 2012, at 2511 State St. location when employees for defendant company followed him into the parking lot. Defendant employees Bischoff and Clark slammed Nicholson into the ground with great force and violence "for no reason," thereby causing him to become greatly injured in his head, neck, back, shoulder, knees and legs, according to the suit.
Because of the incident, Nicholson suffered great humiliation and mental distress, endured great physical injuries and sustained emotional distress, the complaint says. He also claims he incurred medical costs.
Nicholson seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. He is being represented by William D. Stiehl Jr. of Wimmer, Stiehl and McCarthy in Belleville will be representing him.
