A woman claims she suffered extensive head and body injuries after a driver struck the bus on which she was riding.
Marjorie Collins filed a lawsuit Feb. 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Bryan McManemy.
In her complaint, Collins alleges she was riding on a Bi-State bus that was traveling west on U.S. Highway 50 at its intersection with Regency Park in O’Fallon on June 16. Suddenly, McManemy, who was driving east on the same road, failed to obey a stop light and struck the bus, according to the complaint.
Because of the collision, Collins became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled, received neck, back and right shoulder injuries and incurred medical costs, the suit states. She also incurred medical costs, suffered disability and experienced pain and suffering, the complaint says.
Collins blames McManemy for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to properly apply his brakes, failed to stop at a red light, drove too fast and drove without adequate brakes.
Collins is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. She is being represented by John H. Hustava of Collinsville.
