Man's doctors failed to diagnose him with heart infection, lawsuit says

The executrix of a deceased man’s estate has filed suit against a hospital where she claims doctors failed to diagnose the man with a heart infection.

Sally A. Flood, individually and as executrix of Mark Flood's estate, filed suit Feb. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Protestant Memorial Medical Center, doing business as Memorial Hospital.

According to the complaint, Mark Flood was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 1, 2012, for the treatment and care of an unspecified medical condition. Doctors at the hospital, however, failed to diagnose Mark Flood’s myocarditis, which is an infection of the heart, and failed to treat his condition, according to the complaint.

As a result of his illness, Mark Flood died on July 27, the suit states.

Sally A. Flood is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

She is being represented by Bruce N. Cook of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 14-L-160.
