To the Editor:
Illinois’ reputation of corruption, mismanagement, high taxes, and over-regulation has created a very bad business and jobs climate. We have the highest unemployment in the Midwest and one of the highest in the nation. More people have moved out of Illinois than any state except New York. A recent poll showed 75 percent of Illinois residents think this state is going in the wrong direction.
Governor Pat Quinn is doing a terrible job and should be voted out this year. There are four good candidates running in the Republican primary March 18 with early voting now under way. In my opinion, the two best prospects for governor are State Senator Kirk Dillard and businessman Bruce Rauner.
In the GOP primary there are contested races for U.S. senator, congressman in the 13th District and state treasurer. Bob Grogan is an outstanding candidate for state treasurer. If elected he would be the first CPA in this office. He is a certified fraud examiner who will take on the waste and abuse that is bankrupting our state.
By voting in the primary, you will also have an opportunity to vote “No” on the $18 million jail bond tax increase. Needed repairs can be accomplished in stages from existing funds.
