Republican voters, beware

To the Editor:

Perhaps, like me you recently received a newspaper entitled: “The Shakedown Express" sent by a group called “The Republican Fund for Jobs and Progress." Their many paged paper lambasted Republican primary candidate for governor Bruce Rauner.  It attacked him as too liberal and a friend of Rahm Emanuel.

The paper advised me to vote for one of the other three Republican candidates. I wondered what Republican conservative grassroots group had the money to make a huge mailing to 500,000 recipients.  Imagine my surprise when I discovered a newly formed group with money from people with traditional liberal ties sent the mailer! Given the content and pictures in the “Shakedown Express” and  having previously served in Cold War Europe, I was reminded of "psy-ops propaganda pieces" and "dis-informatia."

I don’t know what candidate Republicans will choose but I do know some traditionally liberal groups must really be scared of Bruce Rauner. Perhaps they believe Rauner, a self proclaimed social liberal but a fiscal conservative is the only candidate that can defeat Quinn. Perhaps they fear Rauner will appeal to fiscal conservatives, independents, Republicans, and the many Democrats disenchanted with Quinn’s huge deficits, $100 billion unfunded pension fiasco, the second highest unemployment statistics in America, and ridiculous purchases like $680,000 doors for the Illinois Capitol Building.

Republican voters beware.

“The Republican Fund for Jobs and Progress” is not a "Republican" group. Outside groups spend a lot of money to influence this year’s  Republican gubernatorial primary. They hope to confuse and distract voters. If you doubt me go to ILGOP.gov  for further information.
