Tractor-trailer driver sued after allegedly t-boning vehicle

A woman has filed suit against the truck driver who she claims t-boned her vehicle and dragged it along the street for an extended period of time.

Robin L. Thomas filed suit Feb. 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Francis E. Cramer and Ditzfeld Transfer Inc.

Thomas claims she was driving east on Interstate 70 near mile post 25 when the defendant, who was driving a Kenworth Motor T2000 semi-truck on the same road, attempted to switch from the left passing lane into the right lane. In doing so, Cramer struck Thomas’s vehicle, according to the complaint.

Because of the collision, Thomas sustained severe and permanent injuries to her head, neck, shoulders and back and incurred medical costs, the complaint says. She also claims she suffered substantial pain and discomfort, lost her enjoyment of life, lost wages, suffered scarring and endured emotional distress.

Thomas blames Cramer for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, drove in a careless manner, drove too fast, failed to decrease his speed to avoid a collision, failed to stop before a collision, failed to properly change lanes and failed to give a proper signal.

Thomas is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs. She is being represented by Patrick G. King of King Law Firm in Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-298.
