Another suit against Wood River Wal-Mart claims trip in crafts aisle

An East Alton woman is suing Wal-Mart after slipping and falling at a Wood River store.

Susan Stamm filed a lawsuit Jan. 21 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., doing business as Walmart Supercenter Store No. 1071.

According to the complaint, Stamm was a shopper at the defendant's store on Feb. 4, 2012, when she slipped on a foreign substance in the store's crafts aisle. As a result of the fall, Stamm suffered serious injury to her left knee and leg, which required extensive medical treatment, according to the filing. Stamm is accusing the store of failing to maintain the premises in a safe manner and failing to warn customers of dangers.

Stamm is seeking damages in excess of $75,000, plus court costs. She is being represented in the case by attorney Craig J. Jensen.

Jensen sued the same defendants on Jan. 21 on behalf of client Elizabeth Heinemeier who claims she slipped and injured herself on a grape.

Madison County Circuit Court Case No. 14L87.
